Nilou Has been the design force behind The Redwoods record label since it’s inception in 2015.

I had actually seen Nilou’s work throughout the San Diego music scene over the years and made it my mission when I started my company to have her on my team to create the branding aesthetic of our label. From fliers to album covers to logos, pretty much everything that is affiliated with our music company, Nilou is the first call. Proud to have her on board and keeping a keen eye over our entire design aesthetic. And she’s funny AF!
— Matt Molarius - The Redwoods Music

Nilou is not only incredibly talented but also ridiculously sweet person. She’s amazing to work with and can completely translate your vision from words into an actual beautiful graphic design. She’s the BEST!
— Julia Wheeler - Gunn & Swain

When it came time to start creating the logo for my brand, I knew immediately I wanted to work with Nilou.

After our first meeting, she left me feeling understood, inspired and completely taken care of. Nilou listens and has such a calm, quiet confidence that working with her makes the process stress free and fun. Nilou is not only professional but her creativity exceeded my expectations.
— Krista Sena - Hand Meets Sky

I was having this conversation at the shop today about how import the visual element is to the music. And how many times i’ve been drawn into cover art, pulled as if by a siren. You always nail it, your sensibilities regarding what we’re doing is so uncannily prefect, I consider you one of the band members. And now it’s no longer a hope that the art can match the music, but that the music measures up to the art. I floated it by the only other eyes that matter, those of the singer, and she loved it in an instant.
— Al Howard - The Redwoods Music

Working with Nilou Naghdi (aka The Black Apple) has been a thoroughly smooth and pleasant process for both of my new businesses, ArchWork Cosmetic Tattoo and Shank & Bone Vietnamese restaurant. Nilou handled the all of the branding and graphic design needs from conception to completion for both projects. She created the main logos, menus, apparel, window decals, signage, business cards, gift cards, and every other major and minor graphic design need that arose. She handled everything down to the most minute of details, always making sure things were done correctly and precisely.

Nilou has an incredibly keen, artful eye. My husband and I shared our vision and inspiration with her during very productive brainstorming sessions. Narrowing down which of her designs we liked most was sometimes the hardest decision. With her sharp stylistic intuition she was completely able to capture the tone, energy, and style we hoped to create with each project.

Nilou is a breeze to communicate with. Correspondence is always prompt and edits are always handled swiftly. She has made each daunting new project easy and fluid, resulting in exactly what we hoped for in every branding and graphic design aspect. We get compliments constantly on our logos. Working with Nilou ensures us that we will consistently receive a product that we will love.”
